Stefan Barna was born on May 14, 1920, in the village of Wola Wyżna near Jaśliska, in the Sanok district in Lemkivshchyna.
His parents, named Michael and Paraska, were both peasants. He finished 3 1/2 years of grammar school in his village. In 1947, the family was resettled to the Koszalin area and, from there, they immigrated to the United States.
For many years, he worked for the company “Austinalt.”
He has three children, seven grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.
Within the 1st branch of OOL in New York, starting from 1953, he was elected twice as head of the Branch, 3 times as secretary, and twice to the National Board of OOL.
