OOL Scholarship Award Application

The Organization for the Defense of Lemkivshchyna (OOL) is offering scholarship awards for the 2024-2025 academic year. Successful applicants will each receive a scholarship of $500.

To qualify you must meet the following requirements:

  1. Be of Lemko ancestry.
  2. Be enrolled as a full-time student in any year (i.e., freshman through senior) of an undergraduate program or trade school.
  3. Be a member of OOL (applying for OOL membership in parallel is allowed).
  4. Be a legal U.S. resident.
  5. Submit a 500-word essay on one of the provided essay topics.

    Please note that OOL membership is now a required qualification to obtain the OOL scholarship. Applicants have two options for OOL membership and can choose to be either: 1) a Branch Member or 2) a Member-at-Large.

    Applicants can become a Branch Member through induction by a Branch of their choice, on the basis of a personal application directly to that Branch. Information about OOL’s branches can be found here: https://lemko-ool.org/ool/structure-of-ool/.

    Essay Topics:

    1. Over the past year, how have you contributed to the Lemko-Ukrainian community?
    2. If you could study any topic that relates to the Lemko region, what would it be?
