For many years, OOL has been supporting The Embroidered Icons Museum of Rev. Dr. Dmytro Blazejowskyj, located in Lviv, Ukraine. In honor of the 10th anniversary of Fr. Blazejowskyj’s death (1910-2011), Father Ihor Kovalchuk traveled from Ukraine to Chicago to present the embroidered icons, as well as a book about Fr. Blazejowskyj titled, “A Life of One Hundred Years Dedicated to God, Ukraine and its People”, at the Ukrainian National Museum of Chicago (UNM), Sts. Volodymyr and Olha Ukrainian Catholic Church, and St. Nicholas Cathedral.
Participants of this traveling display of icons in late October 2021 were Bishop Benedict Aleksiychuk of the St. Nicholas Eparchy in Chicago, UNM Curator Marie Klimchak, UNM President of the Board Lida Tkaczuk, as well as OOL Chicago branch member Olga Poliwka, who shared personal memories of Fr. Blazejowskyj.
Ms. Poliwka also announced an additional donation from OOL to The Embroidered Icons Museum of Rev. Dr. Dmytro Blazejowskyj.
