The Blossoming and Tragedy of Lemkivshchyna

The book reveals the processes of history concerning the fight for Ukrainian Lemkivshchyna and the preservation of its ethnographic territory. It provides information about the development of the school system and choral arts in the Lemko region. Particular attention is paid to the deportation of Ukrainians and their ethnic territories – the Lemko, San River, Chelm and Podlasie regions — in the years 1944-1947 in Soviet Ukraine. The results of the sociological research of the author concerning this issue and the memories of those who were relocated, as well as of soldiers of the UPA, are analyzed.
